A good friend of mine introduced me to this golden oldie several years ago and I have used it faithfully every October since. It's a great song that combines movement and singing and of course has all kinds of potential for props and fun. I have searched through my music library twice and cannot find the textbook this song came from but I know it came from an old series. If I can locate better reference information I will come back and fill it in so you all can have access to that.

- Teach the song by rote
- Have students move to various verses using the motion described by the verse (hopping, flying, walking, bouncing, skipping)
- Create new motions that might suggest the character involved in a different way
- Finally, I have masks that I purchased at Michael's and painted to use with this song.
- I line students up by character and with their mask in one hand they move around our predetermined pathway through the room somewhat parade like.
Here are some of my first graders showing off their masks. They enjoyed being the various characters from the song.
